A coalition of 17 retired military officials — including multiple one-, two-, and three-star officers — are raising the alarm on President Biden's aggressive electric vehicle (EV) push over its national security implications. 

In a letter addressed to Biden and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan, the officials led by retired U.S. Army Major General James Marks warned that the president's plans for mass EV proliferation will increase reliance on Chinese supply chains. 

They wrote that regulatory initiatives aimed at incentivizing EV adoption "intensify America’s vulnerability to political interference by the Chinese Communist Party."

President Obama is touting his foreign policy experience on the campaign trail, but startling new statistics suggest that national security has not necessarily been the personal priority the president makes it out to be. It turns out that more than half the time, the commander in chief does not attend his daily intelligence meeting.

The Government Accountability Institute examined President Obama’s schedule from the day he took office until mid-June 2012, to see how often he attended his Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) — the meeting at which he is briefed on the most critical intelligence threats to the country. During his first 1,225 days in office, Obama attended his PDB just 536 times — or 43.8 percent of the time. During 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance became even less frequent — falling to just over 38 percent. By contrast, Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush almost never missed his daily intelligence meeting.

My Comment: I am sure that President Obama reads his intelligence briefs everyday .... and that if something is important that needs to be discussed in these intelligence briefings .... he would be informed. Still .... it makes you wonder if Eastwood's 'empty chair' satire clip was spot on?

Secret ‘Kill List’ Proves A Test Of Obama’s Principles And Will -- New York Times

WASHINGTON — This was the enemy, served up in the latest chart from the intelligence agencies: 15 Qaeda suspects in Yemen with Western ties. The mug shots and brief biographies resembled a high school yearbook layout. Several were Americans. Two were teenagers, including a girl who looked even younger than her 17 years.

President Obama, overseeing the regular Tuesday counterterrorism meeting of two dozen security officials in the White House Situation Room, took a moment to study the faces. It was Jan. 19, 2010, the end of a first year in office punctuated by terrorist plots and culminating in a brush with catastrophe over Detroit on Christmas Day, a reminder that a successful attack could derail his presidency. Yet he faced adversaries without uniforms, often indistinguishable from the civilians around them.

“How old are these people?” he asked, according to two officials present. “If they are starting to use children,” he said of Al Qaeda, “we are moving into a whole different phase.”

My Comment: Reading the New York Times is sometimes an exercise in keeping one from laughing out loud hysterically while it tries to explain a policy direction from President Obama that they may disagree with .... but still wanting to show that they support President Obama whole-heatedly. Bottom line .... if the President pursuing such a policy .... a policy that even sanctions the killing of U.S. citizens abroad .... was President Bush .... the New York Times will be screaming bloody murder everyday.

Ratings For Obama’s National Security Performance Fall To New Low -- Rasmussen Reports

Although President Obama made an address to the nation Monday night to explain his decision to commit U.S. military forces to Libya, fewer voters than ever give him positive grades on his handling of national security issues.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Voters shows 37% give the president good or excellent ratings on his handling of national security issues. Slightly more voters (40%) say the president is doing a poor job when it comes to national security. (To see survey question wording, click here).

My Comment: During a time of war, a sitting President has always enjoyed polling numbers that were over 50% on national security issues .... and his low numbers were (almost) always associated for his shortcomings in the economy.

For President Obama this has not been the case. He has failed in garnering a majority that are in favor of his handling of national security issues, as well as doing dismally on economic issues. If he does not change these numbers by next year .... and the Republicans nominate a viable candidate .... he will be a one term President.

My Comment: I do not even know where to begin in answering this question .... but I will try.

I somewhat share the sentiments of the majority of the people that were recently polled on this issue, with the results released yesterday. Independents are abandoning the Democrat Party in droves on security related issues, and this trend will probably continue. But while Americans are critical of Congressional Democrats, they still view President Obama in a favourable light when it comes to national security.

I do not share this sentiment on President Obama .... but then again I have been critical of every President on national security issues since (and including) President Reagan. I appreciate the problems and complexities that a US President must go through .... and the near impossibility of being successful in keeping us safe while maintaining the liberties and freedoms that we take for granted. President Obama has a different vision of what needs to be done .... and I do recognize that he was elected with that mandate .... a mandate that we must respect and give the necessary time to be implemented.

But .... if a terror strike(s) does hit the US in the coming year(s), this sentiment will radically change. President Obama's approval index will plummet, and he will pounded on National Security in the next election. Elections have consequences .... and so does the policies that are enacted by a new administration. Another 9/11 will have consequences to President Obama and Congressional Democrats .... and they will lose (massively) in the polls if their policy fails. But if these policies are successful .... they will then deserve another mandate.
