Biden's Transition Team Demands Change In The Secret Service Presidential Detail Due To Concerns Over Trump Loyalists

The Secret Service is planning to add a number of agents that previously worked with President-elect Joe Biden when he served as vice president to his presidential detail in the coming weeks, The Washington Post reported.

While it’s not unusual for staffing changes to be made to the presidential detail when a new administration assumes office, the moves come as allies of the incoming president have expressed concerns about how some agents may align with President Trump, the Post noted.

WNU Editor: Everyone has biases. But in my experience a professional will not let his/her biases or prejudices compromise the work. When I look at the Secret Service. The agents who make up the Presidential detail have always struck me as people who are professional to the extreme and will take a bullet for the President.

Speaking of President Trumps' Secret Service detail. Many have requested to be on his detail when he leaves for Florida at the end of his term.

Secret Service 'Stopped Several Assassination Plots Against Romney And Obama During Election Campaign

How the Secret Service Said Goodbye to Mitt Romney -- Marc Ambinder, GQ

At some point, early Wednesday morning, when Gov. Mitt Romney and family were tucked into bed, a quiet call went out on the radio channel used by his Secret Service agents: "Javelin, Jockey details, all posts, discontinue."

Of all the indignities involved in losing a presidential race, none is more stark than the sudden emptiness of your entourage. The Secret Service detail guarding Governor Romney since Feb 1. stood down quickly. He had ridden in a 15-car motorcade to the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston for his concession speech. He rode in a single-car motorcade back across the Charles River to Belmont. His son, Tagg, did the driving.

My Comment:
Marc Ambinder wanted to focus his story on how the Secret Service discontinues it's protection detail when the candidate loses .... but I suspect that he is surprised that the focus is (instead) on his comments that assassination attempts were thwarted.

The Press Calls This 'Traveling Light' !?!?!?!

Protection: Cadillac One, also known as The Beast, has five-inch thick bulletproof glass, tyres that can't be burst and an anti-biological warfare system to keep the President safe

Traveling Light, Obama-Style: 20-Vehicle Convoy, SWAT Team, Air Force One And Nuclear Codes Accompany Him On Holiday -- The Daily Mail

Most families go on holiday to get away from it all, to forget work and responsibilities and day-to-day worries.

For Barack and Michelle Obama, there has been no such escape since taking their daughters for a 10-day holiday on the exclusive island of Martha's Vineyard.

Accompanied by legions of secret service agents, aides, medical staff and friends, the 'first family' have had their every move followed by press and fans as they stay on a rented farm.

Secret Service Defends Shoe Response

From The Washington Post:

The U.S. Secret Service yesterday defended its agents' response to an Iraqi journalist who threw a pair of shoes at President Bush during a Baghdad news conference, saying that they acted with the proper balance of aggressiveness and restraint.

Eric Zahren, a Secret Service spokesman in Washington, also said it will be up to Iraqi officials to prosecute Muntadar al-Zaidi, the journalist arrested in Sunday's incident.

"No one should read anything more into it than what it was, which was an individual throwing a shoe," Zahren said.
