Muslims In U.S. Feel Unfairly Implicated In The War On Terror

MINNEAPOLIS -- As the FBI pursues one alleged terrorist plot after another, Muslim Americans are grappling with a widespread sense that the government thinks they all could be terrorists.

In dozens of interviews across the country, McClatchy has found that the government's search for the enemy within is threatening to divide and destroy America's Muslim communities.

My Comment: Yup .... these Somalis have truly become Americanized when they start playing the "victim" card. Unfortunately, this altitude has been less than helpful to U.S. security and to the U.S. Somali community itself.

FBI Probes Terrorism Links in U.S. Somali Enclaves

WASHINGTON -- Federal agents are investigating whether young men from Somali immigrant enclaves in the U.S. are traveling back to their parents' homeland to fight on the side of Islamist terror groups.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is following the trail of more than a dozen young men missing from Somali communities in several U.S. cities, including Minneapolis, Boston and Columbus, Ohio, according to people familiar with the probe. Counterterrorism officials in Europe and Australia also are investigating similar reports in their countries.

Families of three teenagers earlier this month went public in Minneapolis, home to the largest Somali enclave in the U.S., saying their teenagers had disappeared in recent months and then turned up in Somalia. The families were spurred to action in part after twin October terror bombings in their homeland. One of them is believed to have been the first suicide bombing carried out by an American, according to U.S. law-enforcement officials.

My Comment: When I hear what expat communities in the U.S. are doing in their home countries, I always wonder what it is that does not make them do the same thing here. Throughout American history, most immigrants came to accept this country as their own .... this American melting pot experiment worked .... but will this acceptance continue with immigrants like the Somalis and others .... or are we about to experience a fundamental change?
