In A War Against China The U.S. Plan Is To Conduct 150 Sorties & 900 Precision Strikes Daily

USS Gerald R. Ford – Wikipedia

EurAsian Times: With 150 Sorties & 900 Precision Strikes Daily, US Navy’s AirWing Capable Of Deflating China – Top Commander

China’s expanding military power and a swelling fleet of naval vessels have triggered some anxieties in the West. The PLA Navy has deployed more ships in the region than ever in the last decade. However, the US Pacific fleet Commander is optimistic about the US Navy’s readiness.

The US Pacific fleet Commander recently admitted that one thing that has changed about the Western Pacific in the last four decades is that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy has gone from building a fleet of about 37 vessels in the early 2000s to over 350 now.

Previously, with an increase in China’s fleet size, Pentagon officials warned that China is a “pacing threat” to the US military and indicated that the US military could not keep up with China’s rapid naval development. This has been a pressing issue among the highest echelons of the US military.

War With China Over Taiwan Could Ruin The Global Economy

If Taiwan’s semiconductor industry were disrupted by military conflict, it would set the global economy back at least 20 years, according to Miin Wu, founder of the Taiwanese chipmaker Macronix.Annabelle Chih / Getty Images file

NBC: Why war with China over Taiwan could ruin the global economy

Taiwan makes the world’s most advanced memory chips — the brains inside every piece of technology from smartphones and modern cars to artificial intelligence and fighter jets.

HSINCHU, Taiwan — A military conflict over Taiwan would set the global economy back decades because of the crippling disruption to the supply chain of crucial semiconductors, according to the head of one of the island’s leading makers of microchips.

Taiwan, a self-ruling democracy about 100 miles off China, makes the world’s most advanced microchips — the brains inside every piece of technology from smartphones and modern cars to artificial intelligence and fighter jets.

China claims Taiwan as its territory and has said it would be prepared to use force to take control of the island, although it has not laid out any timeline for doing so. Officially, the U.S. discourages conflict but takes a neutral stance, although President Joe Biden has repeatedly suggested he would step in to defend Taiwan.

Is The Pentagon Freaking Out About A Potential War With China?

Politico: The Pentagon Is Freaking Out About a Potential War With China

The war began in the early morning hours with a massive bombardment — China’s version of “shock and awe.” Chinese planes and rockets swiftly destroyed most of Taiwan’s navy and air force as the People’s Liberation army and navy mounted a massive amphibious assault across the 100-mile Taiwan Strait. Having taken seriously President Joe Biden’s pledge to defend the island, Beijing also struck pre-emptively at U.S. and allied air bases and ships in the Indo-Pacific. The U.S. managed to even the odds for a time by deploying more sophisticated submarines as well as B-21 and B-2 stealth bombers to get inside China’s air defense zones, but Washington ran out of key munitions in a matter of days and saw its network access severed. The United States and its main ally, Japan, lost thousands of servicemembers, dozens of ships, and hundreds of aircraft. Taiwan’s economy was devastated. And as a protracted siege ensued, the U.S. was much slower to rebuild, taking years to replace ships as it reckoned with how shriveled its industrial base had become compared to China’s.

Should America Go To War Over Semiconductor Chips?

Zero Hedge: Spilling American Blood & Treasure For Semiconductor Chips

The below is an incredibly revealing interview clip featuring Republican Representative from Texas Michael McCaul. In the exchange with Chuck Todd of NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, McCaul bluntly states (or perhaps inadvertently admits) that he's willing to go to war with China over Taiwan based on protecting the world's semiconductor supply. Importantly, he is the powerful chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"Make the basic case for why Americans not only should care about what happens in Taiwan, but should be willing to spill American blood and treasure to defend Taiwan," Todd asked at the outset of the interview. Rep. McCaul responded immediately that "no one wants that" and this it's about "deterrence".

US Air Force General Says In A War Over Taiwan, Sinking Chinese Ships Will Be The Priority

Military.com: In a War Over Taiwan, First Step Needs to Be Sinking Chinese Ships, Air Force General Says

The U.S. military would have to focus on sinking Chinese ships if a war broke out over Taiwan, according to the commander of the United States' Pacific Air Forces.

That's one of the lessons Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach took from the scramble of military activity that accompanied a visit by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to the island in August 2022.

"You saw when Speaker Pelosi went to Taiwan, what [China] did with their ships," Wilsbach told reporters at the Air & Space Forces Association Warfare Symposium in Aurora, Colorado, on Wednesday. "They put them on the east side of Taiwan" -- the side opposite China -- "as a sort of blockade."

The Hill: Study: Defense industry unprepared for war with China

The U.S. defense industry is “not adequately prepared” for “a protracted conventional war” with an enemy such as China, according to a think tank study published Monday.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) ran a war games simulation that found that the U.S. would likely be depleted of some of its munitions, including long-range, precision-guided ones, in less than a week of war with China in the Taiwan Strait.

How The U.S. Can Lose A War With China Over Taiwan In One Week

The SUN: RED DAWN How US could lose war with China in a WEEK as every ‘simulation’ shows it being crushed over Taiwan

AMERICA faces defeat by China in a war over Taiwan in just a week and needs to “urgently” up its preparations, a leading expert has said.

The chilling warning from Oriana Skylar Mastro, an authority on China’s military and US Air Force strategist, comes after years of simulations showing crushing defeats for America.

China regards Taiwan as part of its territory and has vowed unification with the mainland, by force if necessary, while Joe Biden recently promised the US will defend the island.

Taiwan is effectively an independent country, though not recognised by the internationally, but any moves towards full independence will almost certainly lead to war.

WNU Editor: This is one of many war simulations over Taiwan. But what I find striking about these war scenarios on Taiwan is that most (if not all of them) end with a Chinese victory, including the one above.

What Could Happen If China Invaded Taiwan

Bloomberg: Here’s What Could Happen If China Invaded Taiwan (Repeat)

(Bloomberg) -- (This story was originally published in Oct. 2020. It’s being republished to accompany our Big Take on the risks of attacking Taiwan.)

Xi Jinping’s Chinese Communist Party has threatened to invade Taiwan for more than seven decades. Now fears are growing among analysts, officials and investors that it might actually follow through over the next few years, potentially triggering a war with the U.S.

In September, People’s Liberation Army aircraft repeatedly breached the median line in the Taiwan Strait, eliminating a de facto buffer zone that has kept peace for decades. The party-run Global Times newspaper has given a picture of what could come, urging China’s air force to patrol the skies over Taiwan and “achieve reunification through military means” if it fires any shots. Taiwan announced it would only shoot if attacked.

Is The US Ready For A Peer To Peer Fight In Europe?

Keith Nightingale, Small Wars Journal: The US is not Ready for a Peer to Peer Fight in Europe

As we all have, I have been watching the impressive Russian ground forces arrayed to invade Ukraine from three sides.

Some comments after consultation with a good friend in the Marines: Upon due consideration, it might have been unthoughtfully wise to not place our military in harm’s way simply because it would have its clock handed to it. Our military, particularly the Army, is tailored for the 20-year war in the Sandboxes-not a Peer conflict. Of equal import is that all the doctrine, tactics and professional skills are on the Sandbox model. None of our uniforms have had any experience in fighting Peer-Peer. We went into Korea and Vietnam with a goodly amount of leaders in both officer and NCO ranks who had such experience and could both adapt and train to the threat level required. That no longer exists.

Are Western Media Ukraine Invasion Maps Realistic?

RT: Putin’s battle plans & Ukraine invasion maps as (un)-covered by Western media

‘Russian invasion’ scenarios imagined, complete with detailed maps and phases of the incursion The same US "intelligence community" that brought us ‘weapons of mass destruction in Iraq’ and ‘Trump-Russia collusion’ claimed in November that Moscow is preparing to invade Ukraine any day now.

The harder Moscow denied it as ‘fake news’, the louder – and more vivid – the allegations became. Things went into overdrive after high-level security talks between Russia and the US appeared to end in failure, with Washington rejecting Moscow’s ‘red lines’ out of hand.

How Big Of A Risk Are China's 'Carrier-Killer' Missiles?

USS George Washington. US Navy/Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Declan Barnes

Business Insider/19FortyFive: The real risk posed by China's 'carrier-killer' missiles

* China's anti-ship ballistic missiles have caused concern among US military officials.

* Chinese anti-ship weapons are a threat to US warships, and their use would escalate any conflict.

* Those weapons are an important part of China's arsenal, but their impact is more incremental than revolutionary.

Could China's missiles really sink a US Navy aircraft carrier?

The DF-21D anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) has generated a tremendous amount of interest over the past several years.

If it works, it poses a very serious threat to US Navy (USN) carriers, as well as to the other advanced warships of the USN, of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, and others.

An anti-ship ballistic missile is more than just a missile; it requires a broad, sophisticated support system. Unlike a missile launched at static targets, a carrier-killing ASBM requires terminal guidance, as it must revise its flight path after reentering the atmosphere.

WNU Editor: A prediction. If hostilities should ever break out between the U.S. and China, America's aircraft carriers are going to keep their distance from eastern Asia.

RT: The last war: How a US-Russia conflict would play out

A showdown between Washington & Moscow would be the worst outcome for both sides, and they know it

Hundreds of formidable tanks rolling down hills, thousands of high-caliber guns unleashing devastating artillery barrages, apocalyptic nuclear explosions, millions of deaths and indescribable suffering: that would be how any potential military conflict between US and Russia would play out.

RT explains why direct military confrontation between the two countries would not help solve a conflict, but instead be likely a world-ending catastrophe.

Stars and Stripes/Military.com: How the US Military Could Mobilize If Russia Invades Ukraine

U.S. paratroopers landing in the Baltics, Army cavalry and artillerymen convoying in from Germany and an armored brigade massing its forces.

Those are some of the moves U.S. European Command could make to shore up NATO's eastern flank if Russia invades Ukraine, analysts say.

There also will be pressure on NATO to activate its little-used quick reaction spearhead force, a unit created in response to Russia's 2014 intervention in Ukraine, to showcase allied unity.

"This (NATO) force was built for just this kind of crisis," said John R. Deni, a European security expert at the U.S. Army War College. "It's a force representative of many of the allies. So to not use it now, frankly, risks undermining NATO solidarity."

Ukraine Defense Minister Warns Of A 'Bloody Massacre' And Five Million Refugees Fleeing Into Europe If Russia Invades

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told CNN there would be a 'really bloody massacre' if Russia invaded Ukraine and warned that 'Russian guys also will come back in coffins'

Daily Mail: Ukraine warns of a 'bloody massacre' and five million refugees fleeing into Europe if Russia invades, as Kremlin says escalating tensions are 'off the scale'

* Ukraine's Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said there would be a 'bloody massacre' if Russia invaded Kiev

* U.S. President Joe Biden will call Russian President Vladimir Putin today to discuss the build-up of troops

* Satellite images have revealed huge new camps of Russian troops, tanks and artillery at Ukraine border

* Kiev accused Russia of deploying tanks and additional snipers to the front line amid warnings Russia to invade

Ukraine has warned of a 'bloody massacre' and five million Ukrainian refugees fleeing into Europe if Russia decides to invade Kiev.

The warning comes as the Kremlin today said escalating tensions in Europe are 'off the scale' ahead of crunch talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden.

Kiev today accused Russia of deploying tanks and additional sniper teams near the Ukrainian border amid warnings Moscow could invade in weeks.

Will Mud Stop The Russian Army From Invading Ukraine?

Bloomberg: Mud Could Help Decide Timing of Any Russia Move Against Ukraine

(Bloomberg) -- Muddy terrain and the need for more troops on the ground make any large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine unlikely until January at the earliest, military analysts in Moscow and the West say, creating a window of diplomacy to steer President Vladimir Putin away from a war.

Those judgments come as a combination of open source reports and images gives growing credence to U.S. intelligence assessments of a build-up of soldiers and equipment toward Ukraine’s borders. Ukrainian military maps also show the changing distribution of Russian forces.

WNU Editor: LOL! Mud is not going to stop/deter/impede the Russian military from launching an invasion into Ukraine. The Russian military lives and trains in these conditions.

The only reason why an invasion is not happening right now is because the Kremlin knows the costs and military/political headaches that such an invasion will cause are simply not worth it.

OMG! Definitely not worth it.

How The Crisis On The Polish - Belarus Border Can Escalate Into A War

Fears are growing of an imminent conflict in eastern Europe as Russia and Belarus carry out snap military drills close to where a migrant crisis is playing out on Poland's border, while Washington warns Putin is preparing to invade eastern Ukraine

Defense One: Belarus Is Laying Tinder for a War. How Will NATO Respond?

The weaponization of migrants shows how gray-zone tactics flummox an alliance set up to deal with conventional or nuclear attacks.

Belarus Is Laying Tinder for a War. How Will NATO Respond?

If you wanted to cause a war, here’s a formula with high odds of success. Send thousands of migrants to your border, have your border force try to push them into a neighboring country, and fire warning shots when your neighbor’s soldiers try to keep the migrants out. In such a tense situation, the other country’s soldiers might misinterpret the shots and fire back. At Belarus’s border with Poland, such an accidental conflict is now a concrete risk. What will NATO do if it comes to pass?

“The potential for escalation is extremely high,” Estonia’s defence minister, Kalle Laanet, told a defense conference on Nov. 10.

Could The Migrant Crisis On The Belarus Border Escalate Into War? (Update)

Two Russian nuclear bombers were flying over Belarus on Thursday amid soaring tensions at the EU border over the migrant crisis

Daily Mail: Migrant crisis on Belarus border could escalate in to war, neighbouring countries warn as Ukraine sends 8,500 troops to its frontier and Lukashenko threatens to cut off gas to Europe while refugees 'freeze to death in woods'

* EU members Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia warned 'hybrid attack' using migrants risked 'serious incidents'

* 4,000 refugees from the Middle East and North Africa have been ferried to the Belarus-Poland border

* Ukraine today sent 8,500 reinforcements to carry out massive drills along its border with Belarus

* Lukashenko threatened to cripple European gas supplies as Brussels warned of fresh sanctions over crisis

* 'We are warming Europe, and they are threatening us,' Lukashenko said, referring to a major Russian pipeline

* Yamal-Europe pipeline passes through Belarus and represents 20% of Russia's supplying capacity into Europe

* Putin lent fresh support to Lukashenko today by sending two nuclear bombers to carry out drills over Belarus

 * Brussels admitted it was considering Trump-style wall to bolster defences on Wednesday in stunning U-turn

The migrant crisis at the Belarusian border could descend into all-out war, neighbouring countries warned today as Ukraine sent 8,500 reinforcements to its frontier with the Kremlin-backed state.

Tyrant Alexander Lukashenko earlier threatened to cut off Europe's gas supply after Brussels said it would slap Minsk with fresh sanctions for 'weaponising' migrants at the Polish border.

Thousands of desperate refugees from the Middle East and North Africa have been ferried to the Belarus-Poland border this week by Lukashenko's security forces, prompting Poland to deploy 15,000 troops along the line.

These Are The Taiwan War Scenarios

Asia Times: Weighing and debunking Taiwan war scenarios

Taiwan defense ministry report highlights China's 'gray zone' threats but surveys show most Taiwanese doubt invasion is imminent.

Beijing has been employing “gray zone” tactics that range from overflights of Taiwanese air space to cyber warfare, in order to increase pressure on the Taiwanese military – all in accordance with its goal of “seizing Taiwan without a fight,” according to a Taiwanese Defense Ministry’s biennial report.

Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said in the 200-page report that Beijing was rapidly building up military capabilities while the world was preoccupied with the pandemic.

The report said there was a “grave threat” to security in the Taiwan Strait and warned Beijing was conducting “cognitive warfare” to sway Taiwanese public opinion.

A survey compiled by a Taiwanese non-government organization showed that the percentage of people who believed that the Communist Party of China would “attack Taiwan sooner or later” increased to 28.1% this year from 16% in 2019.

Nevertheless, a majority of interviewees believed that a war in Taiwan Strait wouldn’t happen.

Defense One: Don’t Assume the US Will Fight China and Russia One at a Time

Beijing and Moscow are boosting their strategic coordination along with their militaries.

China and Russia last week conducted their first-ever joint naval patrol in the western Pacific following a combined exercise in the Sea of Japan, highlighting the deepening defense cooperation between America’s preeminent competitors. While U.S. military planners have long hoped and often assumed that any conflicts with China and Russia might come one at a time, that assumption is increasingly questionable and even dangerous.

If the Biden administration is to develop an effective 2022 National Defense Strategy and build the U.S. defense capacity and capability that American interests require, the administration must jettison outdated assumptions and recognize that the United States could confront Chinese and Russian military forces simultaneously.
