Expect More U.S. And Afghan Attacks On Taliban And Al Qaeda Safe Houses In Pakistan

Pakistan: Cross-border Raid May Signal More Attacks,
Say US Officials -- AKI-Adnkronos


Washington, 5 Sept. (AKI/DAWN) - While the Bush administration has refused to comment on a raid that killed 20 people in Pakistan this week, unnamed American officials confirmed US troops were behind the attack and signalled there may be more.

“In regards to the reports about that incident, we have not commented, and I won’t today,” White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters on Thursday. “I’m just not going to comment on the incident in any way.”

NATO helicopter gunships on Wednesday attacked a militant stronghold in the Angoor Adda area of South Waziristan, less than two kilometres from the Afghan border.

Anonymous officials warned that the United States might conduct similar raids in future if it had “actionable intelligence” about the presence of Al-Qaeda or Taliban commanders in a certain area.

My Comment: This is a blunt hint that more attacks are on the way. U.S. intelligence must be very confident that there are a number of high profile targets in Pakistan, and are frustrated by the "lack of willingness" on the part of Pakistan to get them.
