Zardari Decries Violations Of Pakistan Sovereignty

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan's new president told Parliament on Saturday that the nation will not tolerate violations of its sovereignty by "any power" in the name of fighting terror, a clear signal to the U.S. to avoid controversial cross-border strikes.
Asif Ali Zardari, the widower of slain ex-premier Benazir Bhutto, also asked the parliament to form a committee to consider reducing the presidential powers enhanced under his predecessor, longtime U.S. ally Pervez Musharraf.
A series of suspected U.S. missile attacks and an American-led ground assault in Pakistan's militant-plagued northwest have angered Pakistanis in recent weeks. Zardari has faced some criticism in not being more outspoken against such strikes before.

My Comment: The problem is that Pakistan does not control the frontier regions of its territory, and attempts to defeat the Taliban who are entrenched in this area have failed.
