Pakistan Makes a Taliban Truce, Creating a Haven

From The New York Times:

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — The government announced Monday that it would accept a system of Islamic law in the Swat valley and agreed to a truce, effectively conceding the area as a Taliban sanctuary and suspending a faltering effort by the army to crush the insurgents.

The concessions to the militants, who now control about 70 percent of the region just 100 miles from the capital, were criticized by Pakistani analysts as a capitulation by a government desperate to stop Taliban abuses and a military embarrassed at losing ground after more than a year of intermittent fighting. About 3,000 Taliban militants have kept 12,000 government troops at bay and terrorized the local population with floggings and the burning of schools.

The accord came less than a week before the first official visit to Washington of the Pakistani army chief, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, to meet Obama administration officials and discuss how Pakistan could improve its tactics against what the American military is now calling an industrial-strength insurgency there of Al Qaeda and the Taliban militants.

The militants have also made deep gains in neighboring Afghanistan, where the United States is sending more troops.

My Comment: When I look at islamic history, it is clear that Islamic extremists have never stopped using war as their tactic to spread their militancy. The Pakistan Government's agreement with the Taliban will also not stop this war.

The Taliban now have their safe haven, and they are now only 100 miles away from the capital. They are going to reassert their positions in the province, and I expect a resumption of fighting this summer.

The Pakistani Government has pursued peace in the hope of avoiding war .... their actions have all but assured that war will now be the final result.

"About 3,000 Taliban militants have kept 12,000 government troops at bay and terrorized the local population with floggings and the burning of schools."

bull shit,, the ISI / army are with the Taliban & help them all the way.
they no where they are, they have jetfighters & everything; if they wanted to kill them they could 100% beat them,, but the ISI / army are with them & are the Taliban..
India Malabo attacks where done for a reason, that is so they can say they have to move the troops out from fighting there Taliban to India’s border,,, bull shit..
they needed a reason & the ISI help the attacks so they could do this to keep there Taliban mates / them safe.
burning Americas truck & shipment containers supplies was to put a massive dent in there goals.
so now they have done this so they don’t have to kill there mate the Taliban & al-quida where they 100% ISI are hiding Osama binny lardon.

So now they will give them a safe haven… Pakistan ISI / army are all one, hand in hand with the Taliban & so on…

If America was there they would crush them within 2 months,,, they can not when they come and go in Afghanistan, but in Pakistan they are all along the border, all there bases & hideouts are there..
Pakistan could take them out easy, but they are with them,, it’s a ISI / army with a terrorist army that can not be blamed for the attack from the ISI well Pakistan army,,,, it like having a CIA with terrorist that can go to Russia & attack them then run off, & America can say they are terrorist, but they are really working for the American government / CIA / army…

Pakistan just used collateral damage on there own Taliban, unto they could find away to get out of killing them,,, like we have seen they have tried to do,, like they have now..
