From McClatchy News:
WASHINGTON — If North Korea fires a missile at Hawaii on or around the July Fourth holiday, as Japanese reports have warned, the U.S. plans a measured response in coordination with Russia, China, Japan and South Korea.
In an exclusive interview with McClatchy, White House National Security Adviser James L. Jones said of North Korea and its erratic communist dictator Kim Jong Il: "Our reaction will be dependent on what it is they do over the next few days, few weeks, whatever it is."

My Comment: As I had mention in a post yesterday, I am skeptical that the North Korean's will target U.S. soil for their missile test. To begin, I doubt that they have the technical skills to pull such a test, but even if they did such an action would be a declaration of war, with all of its consequences.

I don't know...Kim Jong Il is nearing the end of his life...he's looking more frail and was hospitalized last year. I also know he loves movies...and since he lives in a fantasy world...would it not be so crazy to think that he's planning a spectacular ending to his life? Since he loves movies...maybe he thinks him dying and turning over the regime to one of his incompetent sons...is maybe not the best ending. Kim Jong Il has proved time and again that he doesn't care for the welfare of his people, so would starting a war be such a vexing decision for him? Lastly, Kim Il Sung spent years preparing and schooling Kim Jong IL; The same cannot be said for Kim Jong Il's current successor...I mean it was a surprise announcement a few weeks ago that Kim's youngest son would succeed him. He just doesn't seem to care about his country's future, nor of it's people. Furthermore, lately Kim Jong Il seems to have no interest in peace negotiations. Has he become an old, tired and grumpy guy that wants to go out with a bang?...I don't know...
Thanks for your comment. I hope that you are wrong, but if history is any indication, we are always surprised.
