US Eyes More Drone Hits On Terror Havens -- AP

WASHINGTON — The White House is considering expanding counterterror operations in Pakistan to refocus on eliminating al-Qaida instead of mounting a major military escalation in Afghanistan.

Two senior administration officials said Monday that the renewed fight against the terrorist organization could lead to more missile attacks on Pakistan terrorist havens by unmanned U.S. spy planes. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because no decisions have been made.

My Comment: I believe that the U.S. will dramatically increase the use of drones and thereby escalating the war along the AFghan/Pak border. For President Obama and his political advisers, they will use this news to divert public attention from their present failed Afghan policy.

Unfortunately, Bill Roggio is correct in his analysis at Threat Matrix .... that if counter insurgency operations do not involve troops on the ground .... counterterrorism and our efforts to destroy Al Qaeda and dismantle its networks would only fail.
