Supreme Court To Decide Who Can Free Guantanamo Prisoners -- L.A. Times

At issue in an appeal by Chinese Uighurs is whether a judge can order the immediate release -- over the objections of the president -- of those wrongly held in the U.S. as part of the war on terrorism.

Reporting from Washington - The Supreme Court set the stage Tuesday for another clash with the president -- this time Barack Obama instead of George W. Bush -- over detainees in the war on terrorism and whether a judge can order the immediate release of those wrongly held in the United States.

My Comment: The debate right now is not on the closing of Guantanamo Bay .... that is a given with this administration .... the debate is where to put these detainees. Bringing all of them to U.S. soil will just create a firestorm from a significant part of the American electorate who would not want to have these terrorists in their "backyard".
