U.S.-Mexican Border Security Continues To Deteriorate, Officials Say -- Washington Examiner
Tensions between the United States and Mexico have grown in recent weeks with the deaths of two Mexicans at the hands of U.S. Law enforcement agents during violent border encounters.
On May 28, Anastasio Hernandez Rojas, 42, died at the San Ysidro, Calif., border crossing after first being tasered by U.S. Border Patrol agents. The man was later found to be intoxicated with methamphetamine and to have suffered from hypertension that contributed to a heart attack. American officials said Hernandez Rojas fought with agents who were trying to return him to Mexico. The man's family said they will sue the U.S. government.

The Houston Chronicle has reported the details of an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement email, that though seem laughable, have been confirmed by an ICE official. The email lists changes which have been ordered at several immigration detainment centers…changes that will make the facilities seem more like extended-stay hotels than jails.

As to what is my take .... Mexico is convulsing in a civil war (over drugs) that shows every sign of getting out of control. ICE and Border agents have every right to be concerned about what is happening .... but actions from Washington indicates that they are completely tone deaf to what their own agents in the field are telling them .... and have been telling them for years.
