My Comment: A sobering view of what is happening in Afghanistan. Many are feeling that forward progress in this war is fleeting at best .... absent at worse .... and as a result a sense of "weariness" is now settling in. After 9 years of conflict .... I know that my own patience would be at the edge.

Update: I did this post last night .... before the McChrystal story broke the headlines. I cannot help but feel how the common soldier, NCOs, officers, and our allies in Afghanistan must now be feeling with this (soon to be) lynching of this commander. Morale is going to go into the tank (if it is not there already), and our enemies will be rejoicing with the knowledge that U.S. policy and strategy in Afghanistan has now been put into turmoil.

This is a bad day for all of us .... and it is an especially bad day for Afghanistan.
