U.K. Defense Chief To Step Down



Defence Chief Sir Jock Stirrup 'To Step Down' -- The Telegraph

The future of Britain's most senior military officer is in doubt after reports Sir Jock Stirrup is to step down early from his post in the autumn.

Air Chief Marshall Sir Jock was said to be set to leave his post as chief of the defence staff as the coalition government seeks to "draw line" under past failures in Afghanistan.

Sir Bill Jeffrey was also set to step down as permanent secretary at the Ministry of Defence, the department's top civil servant, it was reported.
