A NORWEGIAN journalist has emerged from the wilds of Kunar province with rare footage of the other side of the war in Afghanistan - the Taliban at home, at play and trying to shoot American convoys.

The shock value in Paul Refsdal's work dawns slowly. It is in the absence of the cumbersome command-and-control apparatus that is fundamental to the US-led coalition forces attempting to root out the Taliban. It is in the presence on the battlefield - a rock-strewn mountainside - of the insurgency leader's wife and children.

My Comment: This Norwegian journalist was lucky. The Taliban do not have a good history with reporters .... regarding them more as hostage material rather than reporters who are trying to file a story.
