My Comment: Picture this .... you are a Taliban commander, deeply religious, who has been fighting against Karzai and his allies for the past few years. During this time many of your friends and fellow soldiers have been killed by US/NATO forces, but even with all of this bloodshed you know that the Americans and other NATO forces are leaving, and what will be left will be Karzai and his opium addicted/corrupt/military.

As a Taliban leader, will you negotiate with someone who you believe is corrupt, immoral, and is willing to make deals with the infidels?

I don't think so .... and neither will the Taliban.
