Russia Finally Ratifies The New START Treaty

START Clears Final Hurdle In Russia -- The Telegraph

A landmark US-Russia treaty committing both countries to sharply limit their nuclear arsenals has cleared its final hurdle in Russia.

The Russian upper house of parliament, the Federation Council, comfortably approved the text of the new treaty in a vote on Wednesday paving the way for it to be signed into law by President Dmitry Medvedev.

The treaty, known as the 'New START', is the centrepiece of President Barack Obama's much-hyped "reset" in relations with the Kremlin.
