Unrest In Yemen -- News Updates February 24, 2011



Yemeni President Urges Security Forces to Protect Demonstrators -- Voice of America

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has urged his security forces to protect the demonstrators who are calling for him to resign.

Yemen's state-run Saba news agency published a statement saying Saleh ordered the security forces to prevent any clashes between pro- and anti-government protesters.

He also urged both sides to take precautions against those who may try to infiltrate the protests and incite violence.

My Comment: The Yemeni President had no choice .... protect the demonstrators or the consequences may get out of hand. I suspect that he does not want the situation to get out of hand.
