President Obama Is Getting No Respect From The Russian Media

Russian Newsreader Tatyana Limanova Makes Insulting Gesture At Obama -- The Telegraph

A top Russian female newsreader has caused a stir after appearing to offensively show US President Barack Obama her middle finger during a live newscast.

Online footage of the incident, which occurred earlier this month during an afternoon news bulletin on the privately held REN TV channel, is being avidly viewed in both Russia and the United States.

In the footage, Tatyana Limanova, an award-winning senior newsreader at the channel, can be seen briskly reading out an item about how Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has just assumed the rotating chairmanship of the Asia Pacific Cooperation organisation.

My Comment: One good thing about knowing how to read and write Russian is that I have been exposed to Russian media reports on President Obama and his administration that the American media tends to avoid. In short .... a few months after his election and inauguration .... even with Sec. of State Clinton`s efforts to `reset`U.S.-Russian relations .... everything has been going south in U.S.-Russian relations. The reasons why are many .... differences in policies, foreign policy objectives, defense initiatives .... but the number one problem has been a lack of communications and personal interactions. For example .... the Russians always disagreed with President Bush .... but he had a personal friendship with then President Putin that helped to smooth all the rough edges in the relationship, and as a result they may have disagreed with him .... but they always respected him and U.S. policy. Fast forward to today .... that relationship is totally absent, and is now impacting this relationship. What Russian newscaster Tatyana Limanova did was disrespectful .... but such is the altitude that many Russians (and the Russian elite) now have of the U.S. President.
