Lewis-McChord Soldier Found Guilty Of Murdering Afghan Civilians -- Seattle Times

An Army panel Thursday afternoon found Staff Sgt. Calvin Gibbs guilty of three counts of murder in the killings of three unarmed Afghan villagers and a dozen other crimes.

Gibbs is the highest-ranking soldier charged in one of the highest-profile war-crimes cases to emerge from Afghanistan.

These convictions carry a maximum possible sentence of life without parole.
