Is Sinai Becoming A Hotbed Of Terrorism?
Israeli-authored study for a major US think tank finds Sinai's becoming potential launchpad for terrorism.
Sinai is fast turning into a tinderbox of instability, a potential launchpad for terrorism and a source of tension between Egypt and Israel, an Israeli-authored study for a major US think tank found last week.
Ehud Yaari, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and Channel 2 News’ Arab affairs analyst, wrote that developments in Sinai “could break a fragile bilateral peace that is already challenged by growing post-Mubarak demands to abrogate, review, or amend the treaty” between Jerusalem and Cairo.

My Comment: Before the revolution, Egypts authorities made sure that terror groups did not use the Sinai as a launchpad for attacks against Israel. In today's Egypt .... with Islamic groups preparing to take over the government .... they do not feel incline to stop them.

Actually, a certain radicalisation of Sinai tribespeople was already known years ago.
A German correspondent complained publicly during the Egyptian revolution that mainstream media wasn't interested in his story about this.
Mubarak did not keep this problem in check at all - he allowed it to begin and grow.
The only thing that happened recently in this regard was that finally some anglophone think tank types finally learned about it.
