Oil Prospects Are Sinking British - Argentine Talks On The Falklands


Oil Talk Opens Old Wounds In Falklands -- Jonathan Manthorpe, Vancouver Sun

While Argentina wants the islands handed over, the islanders say they want to remain part of the U.K.

The announcement that the commercial production of oil will soon start off the Falkland Islands has inflamed already volatile relations between London and Buenos Aires as the 30th anniversary of the Argentine invasion approaches.

There has been sharp-tongued long-distance verbal sniping between British Prime Minister David Cameron and the government of Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner who has put new energy into her country's long-standing claim to own the patchwork of two large and 776 small South Atlantic islands.

My Comment: As I had mentioned in a post on Sunday, oil experts are projecting a minimum of 8.3 billion barrels in oil .... valued at $1 trillion .... in the Falklands zone. That is an amount of money that gets everyone's attention .... especially from those who believe they are entitled to it .... but are positioned to not get one drop.
