Monitors Turn Back From Besieged Syrian Enclave -- New York Times
Thwarted by hostile crowds that struck their vehicles with stones and metal rods, United Nations monitors seeking to enter a besieged rebel enclave in northwest Syria aborted the trip and turned back on Tuesday, raising new fears among activists that civilians trapped inside were vulnerable to a mass killing by the Syrian military and pro-government militia members.
The enclave, the village of Al Heffa, near Syria’s main port, Latakia, was among several flash points where new fighting was reported Tuesday, as the United Nations released a new report detailing instances of Syrian military abuses of children in the conflict, including their use as human shields on buses transporting Syrian soldiers.

My Comment: The situation is getting desperate, and reveals (to me) growing fears among pro-Assad supporters that they are losing this war.
