Syrian rebels are brimming with self-confidence these days. Just 40 kilometers from the embattled city of Aleppo, they have already raised their flag. In their eyes, dictator Bashar Assad's Syria no longer exists, and they are already beginning to set up their own country.

The group includes Yusuf Odaba, the governor of the Kiliz province, and Asim Güzelbey, the mayor of nearby Gaziantep.

Syria's rebels are not the only ones getting ready .... but am I the only who wonders if this is counting your chickens before they are hatched?

My prediction is that the Syrian government is going to self-collapse with all the defections before the rebels truly take hold. Rebels need to rely on momentum to keep them going, while the Syrian army needs to rely on moral and consistent supply and finances...

They already have dealth a blow to Syria by forcing Assad to abandon much of his region, which I don't think Assad is going to get back. So it's only a matter of time now...
