wo Norwegian MPs have nominated NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden for the Nobel Peace Prize 2014.

Bård Vegar Solhjell and Snorre Valen, both parliamentary representatives of Sosialistisk Venstreparti, the Socialist Left Party, argue that Snowden’s release of classified documents has made the world a safer place.

In their nomination, both Solhjell and Valen say that Snowden damaged international security interests, but that this was just for the short term.

My Comment: I suspect that Edward Snowden was just as surprised as I was when I read this news this morning. And while I doubt that he will be awarded the Peace Prize .... his nomination is certainly creating a buzz (and what if scenarios) in certain circles.

A nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize (already a joke, after Yasser Arafat and Obama) is a joke itself -- any professor (God knows how many wack-jobs are in that assemblage) can make a nomination.
