Senate hears Nusra Front has 'aspirations for attacks on the homeland' amid concern over civil war's terrorism implications

Intelligence officials claimed on Wednesday that a faction linked to al-Qaida in Syria has a desire to launch a domestic attack on the US, a new assertion that underscored the growing importance of the Syrian civil war to global terrorism.

The Nusra Front, one of the jihadist factions in Syria that aligns itself with al-Qaida, “does have aspirations for attacks on the homeland,” James Clapper, the US director of national intelligence, told the Senate intelligence committee on Wednesday.

My Comment: When U.S. forces were in Iraq they became a magnet for all extremists to go and fight .... this distinction now belongs to Syria .... the same country that permitted these same extremists to pass through their borders when they went to war against U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. Wow .... the irony of it all.
