Is This The Start Of World War III?

I Hope I'm Wrong But Historians May Look Back And Say This Was The Start Of World War III -- Edward Lucas, Daily Telegraph

* 'Vladimir Putin is striking at the heart of the West'
* 'We can chose to surrender any responsibility we have to protect Ukraine and the Baltic states'
* 'Or we can mount a last-ditch attempt to deter Russia from furthering its imperial ambitions'
* 'If we choose to resist Putin, we will risk a terrifying miltary escalation'
* 'I do not think it an exaggeration to say this could bring us to the brink of nuclear war'

Deep in the flat and featureless landscape of eastern Ukraine, it is all too possible that the outline of World War III is taking shape.

Whipped up by the Kremlin propaganda machine and led by Russian military intelligence, armed men are erecting road blocks, storming police stations and ripping down the country’s flag.

They are demolishing not just their own country — bankrupt, ill-run and beleaguered — but also the post-war order that has kept most of Europe and us, here in Britain, safe and free for decades.
Vladimir Putin is striking at the heart of the West.

My Comment: It is easy to blame Putin for all of this .... but it is far more complicated than that. When the elected but corrupt Ukraine government was overthrown 2 months ago .... it was easy to predict that nothing good was going to come out of it. Ukraine was already a deeply divided nation .... it did not take much to light the fuse. Exacerbating the situation was the rise of nationalists into the corridors of power who started to promote an anti-Russian agenda .... an agenda that all but guaranteed a blow-back from the Russian community in Ukraine .... and from Moscow itself. That "blow-back" has in turn only intensified the economic crisis ... made worse by Russia cutting off aid and subsidized natural gas, and the West failing in delivering the billions in aid that they had promised in March. As a result .... this is where we are today. A scared and frightened population who are now suffering greatly economically .... with competing powers and interest groups pushing their own agenda without any thought of what the consequences may be.

So .... if World War III does break out (which I still doubt) .... the people that I would blame are the Maiden protestors who started the revolution, ex-President Viktor Yanukovych who was more focused on stealing Ukraine's money than ruling as a President, Ukrainian nationalists, Russian nationalists, the EU, NATO, the U.S., Russia, and last but not least .... Presidents Obama and Putin.

But in the event of a nuclear war .... in the end .... would the survivors really care whose fault it was?

WW3 is pre-planned event. Its only a matter of time. Probably tomorrow, 10 years? 50years? Nobody knows and eveyone in the 1930s probably said "nothing will happen" to find that WW2 was at their doorstep.
But i hope it doesent happen.
