Ukraine Is Not Ready To Confront Russian Separatist In The East Or Russia Itself

Ukraine Is Not Ready for the Consequences of Taking Russia’s Military Bait -- Simon Shuster, Time

By sending its military to quell the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, the government in Kiev may be setting itself up for a spectacular defeat, as neither its army nor its intelligence services are prepared for a confrontation with Russia.

My Comment: This article was posted before this morning's capitulation of Ukraine soldiers in eastern Ukraine .... so it is prophetic. Bottom line .... this is a crisis that needs to be solved politically .... but as I have mentioned more than once in this blog .... the interim Ukrainian government has done everything in it's power to alienate the east, and to give Moscow the ammunition it needs to destabilize the situation even further.

Sending in these soldiers while boasting that they are your elite paratroopers and then having the Ukrainian military op commander declare that "those who don’t lay arms, will be destroyed" .... and then giving up without even firing a shot .... was probably the last straw for many in the eastern part of the country. This has just made many of  them more angry and determined to break away .... and now they no longer fear the Ukraine military.
