Ukraine Warns Russia To Not Invade

Ukraine Warns Russia In Phone Call: Don’t Invade -- CNN

Ukraine’s Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs, Andrii Deshchytsia, warned Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a phone call on Monday not to invade his country.

“I expressed our concern about the situation,” Deshchytsia told CNN’s Fred Pleitgen, sitting in for Christiane Amanpour. “I also warned him not to use any military force to protect Russians in eastern Ukraine, since we have enough power to protect Russian-speaking [people].”

“We both agreed that we have to deploy all necessary means to deescalate [the] situation.”

My Comment: The politicians and diplomats will say one thing .... but what happens on the street and in the communities is another thing .... and in the eastern part of Ukraine events are (for the past two days) spiraling into a direction that Kiev and Moscow may not be able to control.

Why dont you write thats Moscow that is control. the gangsters in EAS UKR to have a pretext to invade?! like you wrote back than when the Kiev events started ( pro west supporters)?!

And dont tell me thats people like your uncle or cousin that are causing problems? What happened in a TV Station, gangasters with riffles? Are they real Ukranians?

You support this idea but you are living a good live outside Russia. Thats the point : No good Russian support Putin MAfia Gov, the people that criticize Putin is either dead, in prison or in exile. Is this what you defend to our relatives in Ukraine? To be ruled by a gangster?

Thank you Bardock99 for your comment.

The situation in Ukraine and Russia is not as simple as many in the West like to paint it .... and Russia is not like the old Soviet Union. But being one who has lived in both east and west (and also for one year in China) I will admit that I of all people has been frustrated with the slow pace of reforms in eastern Europe .... and the continuing cronyism/corruption/and incompetence of it's political structures.

And even though I am a Putin critic .... I will admit that life in the past 20 years has improved immeasurably in Russia .... and in return Putin is now enjoying massive public support for his policies. Am I happy with this situation .... yes and no (no being the support that many Russians are giving Putin) .... but I will always remember what a senior Russian diplomat at the UN and who is now one of Putin's economic advisers told me a few years ago when I was working for ICAO (UN aviation) ..... the U.S. may be a young nation but on a politically level it is a very old country .... while on the flip side countries like China and Russia may be culturally very old nation states .... but on the political level they are still very young and immature. In short .... the U.S. political system is 230 years old .... Russia's (and eastern Europe's) political system is (since the fall of the Berlin Wall) about 25 years old. As he told me .... give it another 100+ years .... and Russia (and China) will probably be where the U.S. was a century ago.

As to being someone who is "living a good live outside Russia" .... sighhh ... you have no idea on how hard my life has been and the personal sacrifices that I have had to make to be where I am today. None. Zero. Nada.

This is surely the beginning of another world war... Putin will regret his choices after the U.S. and NATO obliterate Russia's Inferior military.

WMU, the way of life you have on Canada, the US or in Europe isnt the same you could have on Russia. That is my point. No hard feelings WMU.

With the amount of Gas, oil and natural resources, if RUS cant delivery a better life to their citizens, close the lights and lets go"!

The real problem in RUS is that there is no Democracy. You saw that when Russians tried to support the Ukranians and got arrested, and like this you have hundreds of similar events...

Sure there is a lot of "corrupts" or bad politics in EUR but when you have DEMOCRACY you can change things. Is not by force or arms but by presenting better ideas to the future.

... in RUS you cant change things, like in CHI...
