U.S. Accuses Russia Of Instigating Separatist Protests In Ukraine

US: Russia May Have Instigated Separatist Protests in Ukraine -- Voice of America

The White House says it has strong evidence that some pro-Russian protesters who took over government buildings in three eastern Ukrainian cities on Sunday were not local residents, and were paid for their actions.

My Comment: If there were only a few demonstrations and/or government building takeovers .... I can accept the U.S. claim that this is just "rent a mob" demonstration. But there are thousands of demonstrators on the streets in eastern Ukraine's major cities .... and what I see is not an organized campaign financed by Russia to instigate trouble .... but a lot of people who are clearly worried and frustrated with what is happening and are now taking the opportunity to voice their concerns. In short .... the Russian government does not need to pay demonstrators to go on the streets to protest .... the interim Ukraine government is doing an excellent job by itself in not only messing up the fragile politics of the country but also in alienating the Russian speaking majority in eastern Ukraine.
