UN Security Council Meeting On Ukraine Crisis -- Voice of America

The U.N. Security Council has called an urgent, previously unscheduled meeting Sunday night to discuss the growing tensions in Ukraine.

Kyiv blames the escalation on armed pro-Russia separatists, who over the past week have occupied government buildings in several cities in eastern Ukraine.

The consultations were reportedly requested by Russia.

The session comes on the heels of Ukraine’s acting president, Oleksandr Turchynov, gave pro-Russia forces an ultimatum to lay down their arms or face a “large-scale anti-terrorist operation."
