Top Marine Corps General Slams Obama’s Handling Of Iraq -- Washington Times
Four-star Gen. James Amos, commandant of the Marine Corps, used a speaking engagement at the Brookings Institute on Tuesday to deliver a stinging rebuke of the Obama administration’s handling of Iraq.
“I have a hard time believing that had we been there, and worked with the government, and worked with parliament, and worked with the minister of defense, the minister of interior, I don’t think we’d be in the same shape we’re in today,” Gen. Amos said, the Fiscal Times reported Wednesday.
It is rare for an active-duty serviceman to give such blunt public criticism of a sitting president. While Gen. Amos was careful not to mention the president by name, The Fiscal Times reported that the top general’s upcoming retirement this fall may have played a role in his decision.

My Comment: General Amos is retiring in the next few months .... he is no longer concerned about receiving any blow-back from the White House .... so he is now speaking his mind.

While still serving he is clearly out of order and forgerts (Gen MacCarthur) who is the commander in chief
Information is oftentimes time sensitive.
You want him to wait 3 months and then deliver it?
You want him to put his papers in on a Monday push them through in 3 days and retire early and then tell people what he thinks.
You do not think that wouldn't be telegraphed to the White House so they could go into full spin mode?
What would the White House do besides spin? they might bring charges against retired General Petraeus in order to distract the public with another scandal.
Is Petreaus guilty? Yup. But the White house should have cut bait or fished already. So if they used the Petreaus infidelity to distract right now, I am sure that the White House is guilty never mind the general.
In some ways this is like the wildebeests all piled up at the rivers edge looking at the crocodiles, until one falls in, then another and another, then the herd goes for it.
