Minsk Ceasefire Protocol: Ukraine To Be Decentralized, Special Status For Lugansk, Donetsk -- RT
The OSCE has revealed the 12-point roadmap behind the September 5 truce signed in Minsk. It says that Ukraine must adopt a new law, allowing for a special status for Lugansk and Donetsk regions, and hold early elections there.
The document, titled ‘Protocol on the results of consultations of the Trilateral Contact Group’ and signed in Minsk on September 5, outlines what needs to be done for the ceasefire to stay in place.
“To decentralize power, including through the adoption by Ukraine of law 'on provisional procedure for local government in parts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions (law on special status),'” states one of the provisions in the document.

My Comment: When I compare this ceasefire protocol to what the separatist movement was demanding before the civil war broke out .... short of giving eastern Ukraine independence .... the rebel movement got essentially everything that they wanted. Special status/autonomy, elections, amnesty, economic aid, etc. .... the Ukrainian government has essentially caved-in on all the key points (except independence). In short .... if the political will had existed in Kiev to make the compromises that they made this week in March - April .... this civil war would never have happened.
What makes me especially mad .... and regular readers of this blog know this .... before the crisis erupted into civil war I was pushing for the adoption of these same provisions .... a form of federation modeled along something like Canada's federal system and/or Switzerland's canton form of government. But no one listened .... or scoffed at what I and many others were advocating. Thousands killed, thousands more wounded, a million refugees, billions of dollars of destruction, Europe - Russian relations destroyed, a new arms race buildup .... all of this could have been avoided. My only satisfaction was what I heard from a friend of mine who is a deputy in the Ukrainian government .... he said .... "we should have listened to people like you". Sighhh .... I take no comfort in being told I was right.

Thank you Peter St. John for your comment. I know that there is a lot of opposition to what was agreed upon last week. I am just saying that before the civil war even started .... this agreement would have defused the situation in eastern Ukraine in March - April.
Today .... both sides have hardened their positions .... with one side now wanting outright independence, and the other side wanting to destroy them.

I have also read this in my norwegian newspaper. Its a guy from the Ukrainian parlament who is the sourch. I hope this is not true, but if it is what will the consequenses be? Also the Norwegian government denyes that they are sending weapons to Ukraine, but they have lied before so i am not so quick to trust them.
My next post outlines who is going to provide weapons to Ukraine.
Rhaegar. The Norwegian government is not going to send weapons to Ukraine. I think they are referring to the U.S. military arms depot that is used in Norway to store vast quantities of weapons. It is these weapons that will be sent.

Thank you, hope this is not going to escalate the situration further. What is Putins response to this? Is this a serius escalation in their eyes or not?
I think they were expecting this .... I know I was.
How long do you think this war is going to last? Also i have read from seperatist sourches that there are talks about betrayals, something about a "sixth collumn" do you know what this mean? Also Strelkov talks about this, i am reading a twitter feed from a Canadia pro seperati the feed is called rock solid politics. He talkes about the tactics of the seperatists. He isent happy about something happening in the movments. Do you know anything about this? I am glad that you are reading from seperatist sources, also is Strelkov a war criminell? Since some has callef him that, i hold him in respect because of his braveness of holding Sloviansk in 3 months.
The separatist movement in Ukraine was always divided. They were only united when they fought against Ukrainian soldiers .... and even then there was a lack of unity. The next few days/weeks are going to be critical for some form of political unity in Donetsk and Luhansk .... if not .... this region can descent into greater chaos without the help of the Ukrainian military.
In the above photo, the funeral home decor is most fitting. All that needs to be decided is who's in the coffin and who's in the pews.
