Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko: Pro-Russian Rebels Have Released 1,200 Prisoners

Rebels 'Free 1,200 Captives' - Poroshenko -- BBC

Pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine have released 1,200 prisoners, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

The releases followed Friday's ceasefire deal, he said, which included an exchange of prisoners.

He was speaking during a visit to the strategic south-eastern port city of Mariupol, which has come under shelling from pro-Russian rebels in recent days.

Mr Poroshenko announced his arrival in a tweet: "Mariupol is Ukraine. We will not surrender this land to anyone."

My Comment: This is a shocking high number .... everyone assumed that it was only a few hundred. I thought it was a thousand ....tops. We were all wrong (and told wrong by the Ukraine government). No numbers on how many Ukrainian servicemen deserted .... I suspect that number is also sky-high.

Sitting around doing nothing, only one guy with tools, and surly looks on their faces. Yep, it's the "universal city work crew", recognizable on any continent.
