What The Russian Sub In Scottish Waters Really Says About Putin's View Of The West -- Trevor Royle, Herald Scotland
A feather of disturbed water was all it took to reveal the presence of a Russian submarine off the west coast of Scotland.
Betrayed by its high-powered periscope, the vessel then disappeared, triggering a fruitless search that sent all manner of unwelcome messages to the Westminster Government.
Firstly, it is a reminder that the UK's armed forces lack a suitable maritime patrol aircraft after scrapping the Nimrod equivalent in 2011 and, secondly, the uncompromising message that Russia has the capacity to mount aggressive Cold War-style reconnaissance missions unhindered against Nato countries will have been noted in London.
The first issue was resolved by Nato allies sending their aircraft to Scotland to join the hunt. They included two US navy P-3 Orions, a Royal Canadian Air Force CP-140 Aurora and a Dassault Atlantique 2 of the French navy - but the problem of Russian aggression will be less easily resolved. Ever since Vladimir Putin returned to the presidency in 2012 he has made it his business to keep Nato on its toes by using his armed forces to further Russian interests across the world.

My Comment: Assuming that there are Russian subs in these waters (and it is a big assumption) .... their presence is more of a sign of Europe's weakness rather than Russia's aggressiveness. Budget cutbacks, decrease in military expenditures .... the perception is that national security is no longer an important issue for most European countries .... and countries like Russia are taking advantage of what they now see is a golden opportunity to show who is "the boss".

NATO Subs spent decades in Soviet and Russian waters, mapping, recording sound profiles, tapping communications, spying.
If there are Russian subs in Scottish waters, it's just a quid pro quo.
Yup .... what goes around comes around. But this Scottish sighting was disturbing (if true) .... it was deep in Scottish waters.
The US/UK Trident Base is in in Faa e, in Gare Loch, just north of the Clyde, 25 miles west of Glasgow.
Traditionally, it's the sortie and return port for all the US/UK "Boomer", "Attack" and Spec-Ops subs headed to the Barient and Baltic seas.
Just the place you want to sit quietly offshore of in the "lanes", gathering sonar profiles, other "signatures" and attaching them to subs.

Hmm... is it posible they were intoxicated. Mr. Editor i know you are or were russian so i ask you this. Not trying to stereotype anyone bit how much Vodka do they keep on their subs??? Ha ha. There are good things to be learned by these Russians though. Im almost sure they arent thinking about allowing transgender people into her military right? I do belive U.S is the greates country on Earth. However with our fear of being political correct we are and perceived as weak. Our enemies laugh at this and should. I may only be 31yrs old but im guessing this shit wouldnt have went down 60 yrs ago. For example people burning our U.S in our cities. Would putin put up with that? Hell, what leaders in other countries wouls?.Pres Bush s aid the only way the terrorist could win this war was if after 9/11 we lived in fear. Well guess what. We are losing and will lose this war. We are afraid. Not by an attack but fear of offending people. Not our people but insulting other people.... Very sad...

In regards to vodka Adam .... my uncle (on my father's side) was a senior General in the Soviet military .... and his altitude towards that beverage was very simple.
Vodka is made from potatoes. Potatoes are a vegetable. Therefore .... Vodka is a salad.
But in all the years that I knew him .... when he put on that uniform .... he never touched alcohol .... not even a sip. On the subs .... it would not surprise me if there is a zero tolerance policy towards booze.
On another note .... my father loved Canadian beer .... but he never called it beer .... he called it food.
Vodka is a salad if I can remember that tomorrow I'm going to quote that.... Yall be careful.
