If the Ukraine has no money, and no credit, how have they been able to pay for the War?

War is expensive.

WNU Editor,

Syrlsly, how are they paying for it?

From what I understand, over 90% of the EU/IMF/US loans, were in and out, into Kiev, out to offshore creditors, mostly Russia.

Even with all the cuts, ( pensions, subsidies, military pay), the collapsed revinues, the numbers don't add up, unless the Ukraine Government is paying with Worthless IOU's.

Here is what a friend of mine in Moscow told me a few weeks about Ukraine. After years of giving Ukraine monies/grants/loans/cheap gas/industrial benefits/favored trade status/etc. .... no one in Moscow calculated how much this aid was worth until they stopped giving it to Ukraine after the revolution. But when they finally added it all up .... they found that the money that they were now saving was literally running in the billions per month. Cuba cost the Soviet Union about $6 billion a year .... Ukraine has been costing far more than that. From a financial perspective .... cutting off Ukraine was probably the best thing to ever happen to Russia's finances. Of course .... sanctions and the fall in the price of oil has mitigated all of this .... but it is food for thought. As for Ukraine .... this has been a disaster and their hope that the EU/IMF/World Bank would step in and replace all of these funds .... that has not happened ... nor will it.

WNU Editor,

I know that Youshenko found out at the last moment, that Russian trade and subsidies were woth $60 billion a year, not the EU claimed $15 billion,

But with the War costing the Ukraine by some accounts, $6 million a month or more, where is the money coming from?

60 billion is about right. And in a poor country like Ukraine .... it hurts. But my biggest beef with the Ukraine economy has always been the same .... the damn corruption. It is the main reason why I decided a long time ago to not start a business in Ukraine .... the corruption is horrendous.
