Putin Not Invited To Auschwitz Ceremony To Mark The 70th Anniversary Of Its Liberation By Soviet Troops

The Guardian: Putin snubbed by Poland over Auschwitz anniversary

WNU Editor: Not inviting the leader and representative of the country that was primarily responsible for the liberation of the world's largest concentration camp .... this may make the Polish political class and part of their population happy for a day or two, but in Russia this "insult" resonates everywhere and will be remembered for a long time.

Well the Poles just gave Putin at least a couple more months of popular support at home, for free.

To the poles, at the time, it was nothing more than an 'enemy' liberating another 'enemy's' concentration camp.

The soviets don't have the best of rep when it comes to atrocities committed during WW2, so this does not surprise me.

Russian - Polish animosities goes back centuries .... but the focus of this anniversary was to be on the liberation of Auschwitz .... or so I thought.

You are right James .... more support for Putin .... and he does not have to say anything.

I should also add that my father was in the front of the Soviet Army when they liberated Poland .... hundreds of thousands of Soviet Soldiers died in kicking out the Nazis from Poland .... much to the relief of many Poles who suffered deeply from Nazi occupation for over 5 years.

It's gotta suck living on the cross hairs of invasion called Poland, where your most defensible natural feature is 3" tall blade of grass.
