Russia Optimistic On Ukraine Peace Deal

Reuters: Russia optimistic on Ukraine deal, warns on arming Kiev

WNU Editor: Publicly Russia is supportive of these peace talks .... privately they have doubts. They also clearly do not trust Ukraine President Poroshenko .... nor the U.S.. Beneath the surface there is a lot of anger from Russia being directed at both Kiev and Washington for the current crisis.

In my opinion Russia has a lot to be optimistic about, they have in essence won. The western alliance is split (and in public) and Kiev is beaten on the field. It doesn't matter to Russia what happens as for as agreement or no agreement, they hold the winning hand.

They hold it for now James .... but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

Considering the situation as a whole Russia will have that hand for more than enough time. The real losers as usual in something like this will be the little people of the Ukraine of course, especially the western/Kievian part.
