A Day After The Baltimore Riots -- News Updates April 28, 2015

New York Times: Baltimore Residents Begin Clearing Debris After Night of Riots

BALTIMORE — Residents of neighborhoods hit by rioting and arson turned out Tuesday morning to begin clearing their streets of debris as hundreds of rifle-toting National Guard members began deploying here, lining one of the city’s main thoroughfares and taking up posts around a police station in western Baltimore that had been the scene of earlier protests.

At Pennsylvania and West North Avenues, where a CVS drugstore was looted and burned, residents with donated brooms were out in force. State police troopers in riot gear were lined up in a human barrier across the intersections, and a crowd of peaceful residents gathered, singing and chanting.

Thank you Jay for the link. One more reason why cops should have body-cams.

It just goes to show Jay that the police have a harder job than you.

They should have twice as many police as they do now.

They should rotate them into and out of line like infantry units.

Or they could higher some community outreach types whose idea of PTSD is a papercut.

Anzino,

when the TPP passes, it will be your kid's getting the Nickle Ride,

And I am glad to know, as a Taxpayer, you are proud to foot the bill for the liability costs of Crooked Cops, even if your City is broke.

My Dad was a highly decorated RCMP Veteran. he also had zero tolerance for Crooked Cops. For that, he got crap postings, no back up and the honor of testifying before three Royal Commissions and at the trials of a dozen Cops.

Two contrasting Vids for you

Jay you need to take some psych courses.

Police are on the line longer than line infantry. That has an effect.

I did not say I supported crooked cops. There were 4 sentences and not a one of them said as much.

I am tired of this nickle ride business. Those vehicles cannot be that bad.

Gray got injured during the chase. He injured himself, was injured when the cops took him into custody or the cops beat him up. We don't know.

But I am not going to Jump for Obama and the other miscreants after they tried to pull that crap in Ferguson. We are just lucky we had the video and that we had a grand jury where sworn testimony was given.

I know that 2 to 5 years from now incidents will go down by 1/2 and the usual suspects will tell us it is worse than ever and up the volume.

This president started off by stepping into it during the Louis Gates incident and he merely made it memorable with his beer summit. It has gotten worse since then.

Anzino,

You seem to take everything rather personally, become quite offensive, and reveal more of your personality and personal beliefs, than you really should on the web.

Goggle is forever you know.

Gets rather hard keeping things civil and not calling you on your "issues".

Here's video of the Gray arrest,

what did Anzino say that was so bad? you both are just chatting and suddenly you call him out as being offensive?

Jay .... one day I will tell you my RCMP - ICAO story (ICAO is the UN's aviation organization and it is based in Montreal), the first Iraq war, the Iraqi delegation to ICAO who were closing their office and moving to their embassy in Ottawa at the start of the first Iraq war, the lowly UN official responsible for their move (that is me by the way .... and the move was done at midnight), and the 6 RCMP officers who stopped us outside of the building (with guns drawn) demanding to inspect our diplomatic vehicle.

Sighh ... those were exciting days.

But here is the punch line .... I immediately called my superior and he turn called the one person who saved everyone from a horrible diplomatic incident .... that person was .... of all people .... Foreign Minister Joe Clark threatening these RCMP officers over the phone that if they did not disappear their next posting will be in the far north at some Inuit community. it is just amazing how a bunch of RCMP officers can fold right away when their political bosses are pissed-off.

Hmmm .... I guess I just said the story.

I have gotten to know many good cops .... and bad cops. Your dad obviously suffered for his principles ... and in turn I am sure that your family suffered too.

On a side note .... I just heard that Mr. Grey was actually awarded a huge insurance sum a week before he died for a serious back/spinal cord injury. If true .... this makes his death even more tragic. Either way .... a full investigation of his death is obviously needed, and I pray that it will be done with the due diligence that it deserves.

Joe was the last Con I ever voted for,

The last Con I ever knew who had Morals.

Joe was a " fuck of a good guy", he got it, he was the last Con Jack Layton

I knew Joe, and his wife, his kids, personally, a Great Man, so deminished in the Media, because he wasn't telegenic, or reactive. one of the Last Great Generation.

God, I Miss Joe.

Anonamous,

Part of the "fun" of crawling out of the anonymous tag, into an actual ID, is that you develope an on-line persona, that carries on.

It can be utterly fake, such as,

Aizino Smith
Lives in Wage Slavistan, Named Oligarchy de jure
1 follower

Or it can be real.

In meatspace, over the last few months, the snide remarks of Anzino Smith, would have resulted in his critical condition, breathing through a tube, living off of IV's , and crapping in a diaper.

He thinks, and accuses me, bit by bit, post over post, of being some kind of liberal pacifist,

Worse yet, a cabinetmaker.

Dude has no clue, which is common on the web.

I am really tired of the nickel ride.

I don't believe the cops beat this man in the paddy wagon. The term nickle ride is so freighted with tension in how it is used in writing that you would think it purposefully was built to have no shocks so as injure anyone being taken to the station. Or the police routinely work over people in the back of the vehicle.

The police may have beat Gray up. But it was not after people started filming, when they were around the cop car, or during the ride back to the station. Everything there was by the book and legal.

If a beating happened, it happened at the end of the chase. We don't know unless a cops are not consistent or the jury goes to the scene of the chase and runs over the events and determines that it was not possible for him to injure himself.

Depending on preexisting condition etc a person could dislocate their spine. Maybe even healthy person. I sincerely doubt it. But we had such great reporting. Now we find out it was his neck which is consistent with him not breathing. He led the police on a chase while on a bike. He could have went over the handle bars. He could have fallen, while climbing a fence. Or he could have been beaten by the police. I believe it is harder now to know what happened after people burnt down the city and the prez started on his narrative along with others.

I have not seen one person say the cops did not do it. They have been holding fire. We have seen the president and others jump on this. the cried wolf during Ferguson, I have to to suspect their motives now.
