* The former POW faces desertion charges at a court marshal this year

Former Taliban captive and alleged deserter Bowe Bergdahl has been caught up in a drugs raid while visiting his friends in California.

The Army Sergeant, who was released in a prisoner exchange after being supposedly captured in Afghanistan in June 2009, was at a ranch in Redwood Valley when authorities stormed the property - making several arrests and seizing 181 marijuana plants.

The 29-year-old is said to have no connection to the drug-growing operation, but military officials were still informed and an Army escort was sent to pick him up.

WNU Editor: Considering what has happened to him .... and what will be happening to him in the future when his trial starts .... it is common sense that you should be on your best behavior and that you are very careful on what you do ... including on who you want to hang out with. But apparently .... this is not how Bowe Bergdahl thinks.

There are several ways of looking at this, from the 'what kind of idiot is he' to the 'it was the only job he could get.'

I smell full pardon, lucrative book deals, lucrative speaking engagements, however much back pay Mr. Berghdal wishes to extract from the military, honorary degrees from whichever universities Mr. Berghdal wishes to have, fawning hero worship from the media, and the endless list of goodies that await Mr. Bergdahl don't end there.

As to how does he think, he knows all of these goodies await him and he is simply rubbing it in the faces of those who might wish for some other fate to befall him. If he's likened to a poker player, he has a FABULOUS hand. Now should he overplay this hand he could have a problem but simply being caught on a pot farm would not be likely enough to screw that up.
