The Hill: Afghan defense chief: Taliban used hospital bombed by US
Afghanistan’s acting defense minister says a Doctors Without Borders hospital bombed by U.S. forces was being used as a base by militants and had a Taliban flag hoisted on the walls around the compound.
"That was a place they wanted to use as a safe place because everybody knows that our security forces and international security forces were very careful not to do anything with a hospital," Masoom Stanekzai said in an interview with The Associated Press. "But when there was on one of the walls of the hospital, there was a Taliban flag — what can you think?"
WNU Editor: The Taliban themselves were photographed in the hospital .... and have used those photos in their propaganda campaign .... Striking difference b/w treatment of @MSF staff by Mujahidin & invaders (Twitter). But did these pictures and reports that the Taliban were using the hospital as a base is enough to justify it being bombed .... of course not. But the hospital was bombed, and this story is not going to end. On a side note .... I would love to know about the Pakistani intelligence officer who was "rumoured" killed in this strike. Is this Afghan propaganda .... or is there some truth to the story. Either way .... unfortunately .... we will never know the real answer. But what we do with 100% accuracy, is that the U.S. did bomb a hospital.
