Iran Reveals A Secret Massive Underground Missile Complex

Trend (Iran): Iran reveals underground missile base (VIDEO)

Iran has for the first time released the footage showcasing one of its underground missile bases.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) was permitted to enter a base located 500 meters below the ground, and take its video for the first time, which was aired by the IRINN TV Oct. 14.

“Iranian missiles of varying ranges are ready to be launched from underground bases once Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei orders to do so,” IRINN TV quoted the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh as saying Oct. 14.

He explained that Iran created missile bases in all the provinces and cities throughout the country at a depth of 500 meters.

WNU Editor: The Iranians are not even hiding what they are doing. This video is directed at an Iranian audience, but it is also directed at Israel/Saudi Arabia/Gulf States/and the U.S..

what's up with wearing aviator shades in underground tunnels?

Good one Caecus.

They showed this video to preempt an attack by either Israeli or American forces.
With Aleppo and Raqqa ready to explode, they are taking the initiative to tell any foes they will hit back! Saudi Arabia and Turkey must be starting to seriously sweat! Isreali is bogged down with the Palestinians intifada and voila a new Middle East is being birthed.

Maybe it's because the future is so bright they gotta wear shades!

WNU

I wonder similar these tunnels are to the Chinese?

War News Updates Editor said...

Those are big tunnels where it appears that they were carved out of granite. And while I am not familiar with Chinese tunnels, I suspect that the engineering behind it is used universally (depending on the rock).

I do not believe this video or this tunnel. I see no excavation marks on the walls (of course they could have sprayed them with gunite), no sign of air handling (ducts, vents, etc) which would be needed at 500 meters. The missiles have no unit markings or any markings I could see and they and their vehicles are in parade condition. The floor surface shows no tire or wear marks. If you look closely you can see some type of structural reinforcement arches when you look down the tunnels, but they are covered by whatever they used to finish tunnel surfaces, and are not very large to begin with. This is propaganda.
I would remind the Iranians though, that a bomb proof tunnel is just an expensive tomb if the access es are blown shut. Ask the Japanese about Iwo.

Maybe James, but need I remind you of the 'propaganda' that the US said after their drone was hijacked by the Iranian Chinese duo.

Anon,
"Maybe James, but need I remind you of the 'propaganda' that the US said after their drone was hijacked by the Iranian Chinese duo." that is of no interest to me.

I doubled check the video James. You are right .... there are no ventilation ducks or vents .... specially that deep. This video is not "kosher".

Fellas,

This looks legit to me. It has the characteristics of an underground mine.

The back is high and arched. What looks like supports are indicative of the size or length of the rounds taken when this drift was driven. There are no excavation marks because there no continuous miners or moles used. This sucker was blasted. The arches could also indicate a form of long support engineered to harden the facility and/or make the ground more stable.

We don't see hard line or vent tube most likely because freak air is pumped down via a raise using fans at or near the surface. 500m is not that deep for a mine.

The surfaces of the back and ribs are irregular and covered in Shot Crete. It appears that the services (electric, water, compressed air) air covered too or run through bore holes or drifts of their own. It's a military facility so these things may have been specified to be especially hardened. I did see what appears to be hose and or cable hanging from the rib and back in a couple of frames.

Notice too where the ribs (walls) meet the poured floor. You'll see water. We call it "the piss ditch". The water which seeps from the rock, is used to clean the floors, runs down the drift from the portal when it rains on surface, or brings relief to an Iranian soldier with no turd burner (electrically powered underground outhouse) in sight, is directed to sumps. In fact, it looks to me that the floor was power sprayed not that long ago.

I remember the videos of the supposed Iranian stealth fighter. It was so cheesy and obviously contrived. I don't get this impression here. A mine like this is well within their capabilities.

Remember this,

It would not surprise me if the concrete mentioned is what we see sprayed on the ribs and back. The arches/long support guess makes even more sense give the stability issues in earthquake prone Iran.

RRH,
I see what you are talking about and I will concede it's underground, but there are still problems with what's shown and what the narrative is. This facility was not designed for the storage and use of these weapons. You would have have to have horizontal ingress and egress for the vehicles. This implies you're under a mountain and somewhat near the outside elevation of the surrounding country. You could have vertical access points (elevators) but they would have to be huge, very expensive for even one facility much less for a whole series of them, and easy to detect in fabrication and installation. Yes, 500 meters isn't that deep for a mine, but with the internal combustion engines these weapons have you would need ventilation capacity far in excess of a standard mine necessity.
The weapons themselves: They are of parade piece standard, yes they could be operational, but parades are their first job. They are not rough terrain vehicles (they might be able to deal with some unevenness but not much). They would need a large outside level area for launch and disposal of transport for follow on units.
Underground launch capability would not be impossible, but the engineering and cost would be very high and again the ventilation for that would be almost unimaginable. Though this was probably shot underground I stand by my judgement that it is a propaganda piece.

RRH,
An addenda, gunite is in essence shotcrete, used alot down here in swimming pools and the stabilization of the walls of large excavations.

War News Updates Editor said...

And to think my dad wanted me to be a mining engineer.

RRH said...

I see what you're both saying.

I figured gunite was just another term/form of shot Crete.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Iranians rehabbed and used an existing mine for this facility. The horizontal ingress/egress is a portal and ramp as opposed to a shaft with a collarhouse, headframe and hoist. It's not impossible or even excessively difficult to bring those vehicles down below using either method. They could be drive down via the ramp or (I doubt but is possible) slung in pieces beneath the skip and re-assembled UG.

I've seen some big gear underground. Stuff that, if you'd seen it on surface, you'd have trouble imagining fitting, let alone moving around down there. As for the gear itself, I have to agree and say it looks rather spiffy and light for UG, but then again, if all they're doing is training in and out, up and down on paved ramps, it's not too bad. There are lighter vehicles UG running around on much, much worse roadways.

I get the hint of propaganda too; the Iranians love producing stuff that looks like it's out of some old Bond or Godzilla movie. But the place is real, whether it was designed to be what they say it is or not.

Thank you for discussing this.

WNU Editor,

You are doing just fine where you are at.

Just leave the Stakhanovism to me.☺

RRH,
Well we've worked it over pretty well.

If these tunnels are functional military assets, they had help.....that's what I was implying in my post.

I'll double check my wording next time.

James said...

Phil,
I wasn't referencing your comment, but if what they say is true (similar bases in all provinces and cities of Iran) then yes they had to have help. Whether what was shown is a tunnel, mock up, or cavern is beside the point to me. It is their entire assertion that I call BS on. Sorry if I was somewhat misleading, I always look forward to your comments.

phill said...

The three suspects are Russia, China, and north Korea...If the tunnels actually real.

Why would Russia or China help them build (nuclear man caves)?

The hermit kingdom would do it to just have a friend.

The propaganda war will continue.
