Is Russia's Air Strikes Aiding The Islamic State?

Michael Weiss, Daily Beast: Russia’s Giving ISIS An Air Force

Putin’s air campaign in Syria is not only supporting Assad, it’s giving cover to fighters from the so-called Islamic State.

Last June, the U.S. embassy in Damascus accused Bashar al-Assad’s air force of clearing a path for an ISIS advance on Syrian rebels in the Aleppo town of Azaz. “Reports indicate that the regime is making air strikes in support of [ISIS’s] advance on Aleppo, aiding extremists against Syrian population,” the embassy account tweeted, following up with a broader accusation: “We have long seen that the regime avoids [ISIS] lines, in complete contradiction to the regime’s claims to be fighting [ISIS].”

Now Russia seems to have inherited Assad’s role as the unacknowledged air force of ISIS.

WNU Editor: For the moment it appears that the Islamic State is not on Russia's radar or on the Syrian military's priority list .... and the Islamic State is taking advantage of it (see previous post on Aleppo). But this war is very fluid, everything can change within a hour.

This is more spin from court "journalists" who have been scrambling around trying to cobble together a "concensus building" narrative regarding Russia's intervention in Syria. It's fairly obvious they are completely flumoxed given the "throw a plate of things against the wall and see what sticks" nature of the accusations flying around.

It's "Ohhhhhhhhh look at the civilian deaths from the airstrikes!!!!" then "oooooooohhhhh they said they'd only go after ISIS they LIE!!! And are hitting the moderates!!!!" Not good enough so "Look look look see!! They are providing air cover for ISIS!!!! We gotta do something!!!!"

Watching them slither about like snakes in a bucket while hissing lies and obfuscation is nothing short of vomit inducing (when not completely, obscenely, tactlessly, outrageously, ridiculously hilarious). They ve been so used to running this scam that lying has become habitual. All the lies in the world won't save this situation for their masters or, dare I say, not a few careers as professional craven lickspittles who have outlived their usefulness.

The gig is up, toadies. The people are too tired to listen and too broke to care.
