Ahmet Davutoglu also says U.S. and Russian support for Kurds fighting in Syria poses threat

ISTANBUL—Turkey’s premier suggested Wednesday that Kurdish separatists played a major a role in the country’s worst terrorist attack even as Islamic State remained a main suspect, an allegation critics and experts dismissed as a political tactic amid mounting tensions before critical elections.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu also criticized the U.S. for what he said was supporting Syrian Kurdish militants, potentially complicating relations between the NATO allies.

Four days after twin suicide bombings in the capital, Ankara, killed at least 99 people, Mr. Davutoglu said investigations established a strong chance the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, may also be involved in an assault he earlier said was most likely carried out by Islamic State. The government considers both groups enemies of the Turkish state.

WNU Editor: So .... according to the Turkish Prime Minister .... two sworn enemies who are now involved in a life and death struggle in Syria (the Kurds and the Islamic State) .... decided to join forces to bomb a pro-Kurdish peace rally in Turkey. If this is the official position that the Turkish government is taking .... we will probably never know who really was involved in this bombing.
