Military.com: Obama: Al-Qaeda and ISIS Don't Threaten 'Our National Existence'
In his final State of the Union address, President Barack Obama said the terrorist groups al-Qaeda and Islamic State pose a "direct threat" to Americans but don't threaten "our national existence."
"Both al-Qaeda and now ISIL pose a direct threat to our people, because in today's world, even a handful of terrorists who place no value on human life, including their own, can do a lot of damage," he said, referring to the Islamic State in Iraq or Syria, or ISIS, also known as ISIL. "They use the Internet to poison the minds of individuals inside our country; they undermine our allies."
His comments came a month after 14 people were killed and 22 others injured when a married couple inspired by Islamic extremists attacked employees at a social services center for the disabled in San Bernardino, California.

WNU Editor: At the moment .... President Obama is right .... terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and Islamic State do pose a "direct threat" to Americans .... but they do not threaten "our national existence." But what worries me is that if you look at history .... there was a time when radical Islam did threaten Europe's national existence, resulting in wars and conflicts that lasted for centuries. Radical Islam and the ideology that it espouses does have millions of followers .... fortunately .... it also has hundreds of millions of opponents. But if history is any indication .... if conditions become right, a minority can easily ascend to power resulting in the most radical of all agendas being implemented. After-all .... the Nazis first started in Germany with only a few hundred dedicated followers in the 1920s, and we all know what happened only a years later.
