Al Jazeera: On the front line of Afghanistan's battle with ISIL

Al Jazeera gains exclusive access to the Afghan forces' battlefront with ISIL in Nangahar province.

Achin, Afghanistan - Going to Afghanistan's Nangahar province was a bit worrying, simply because the province is known to have fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

ISIL claims part of the province, calling it Wilayat Khorasan.

The armed group has already carried out attacks, including a suicide bombing against the Pakistan consulate in the provincial capital, Jalalabad, about two weeks ago.

Nevertheless we headed there, because this is an important story.

WNU Editor: The Afghan President still believes that the country's military will defeat them .... IS in Afghanistan: We will bury them, says President Ghani (BBC). What's my take .... after one year the Islamic State is still in Afghanistan, and they show no signs of defeat.

I think his guy, embedded in the ANA (he claims), is more than a little mixed up.
