Ten Detainees At Guantanamo Bay Prison Transferred To Oman

USA Today: Transfer of 10 detainees brings Guantanamo Bay population under 100

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon announced Thursday that it had transferred 10 Yemeni detainees at Guantanamo Bay to the Arabian nation of Oman.

The transfers bring the number of detainees remaining at the military prison to 93, as President Obama continues to try to make good on his campaign promise to close the facility — or at least vastly reduce the number of detainees.

"This chipping away at the population ... certainly is what we can do right now," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Monday after another detainee had been transferred to Saudi Arabia. "And we have made some progress in reducing the population at the prison at Guantanamo Bay. But ultimately, to accomplish the goal of closing it, we're going to need Congress to remove some obstacles that have prevented it thus far."

Oman is the one GCC petty kingdom that has kept itself far away from the KSA's wars of choice and jihadi adventures in the ME, and has retained ties to Iran.

Anything smaller than Great Britain or Canada is a petty kingdom?

Jay Farquharson said...

Oman is a Kingdom, like KSA, and is quite "petty" about it remaining a Kingdom, and not just in name.

question for jay dog:
why is the left so insistent upon releasing evil terrorists into society?

Question for herher,

Why is the right so invested in sending some of their "best and brightest", ( technically, the "future") off to fight and die in failing wars, creating more global chaos and creating more terrorists?

Is it because so many are wrapped up in "stolen honour", FPSG's, Faux News, believe that "24" and "Homeland" are documentaries, and 5 years of playing Halo is the same thing as a West Point degree.

If the gentlemen in question are actually "terrorists", well terrorism is a crime, and they will have been charged, tried and convicted with admissable evidence in a lawful International or Domestic Court.

Being products of Gitmo, their convictions are tainted by torture, sodomy and false confessions and are as real as the "convictions" created by the old Soviet System, ( which Gitmo deliberately copied), the Saudi and Iranian Courts, or the Taliban.

Nothing on sodomy Jay?

"In a 121-page report, the doctors' group said that it uncovered medical evidence of torture, including beatings, electric shock, sleep deprivation, sexual humiliation, sodomy and scores of other abuses.

The report is prefaced by retired U.S. Major Gen. Antonio Taguba, who led the Army's investigation into the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal in 2003. Video Watch why a rights group says there's evidence of torture »

I really don't understand the MachoAmerican fixation with sodomizing the weak and helpless.
