Seems like there's a PR campaign going around trying to prove that the Russian sanctions are working.
Russians can survive to anything, those sanctions are a minor issue.
I listened to the video. I come to a different conclusion than a PR campaign trying to prove the sanctions are working.
It looks to me more like a messaging campaign showing the sanctions are failing. The video mentions that luxury goods purchase have increased. This indicates that the elites who are supposed to be targeted by the sanctions who presumably set policy are not being affected by this and are, in fact, thriving better than they were pre-sanctions.
In contrast, "Ivan" the ordinary Russian has been hit by this. The goal in sanctions is NOT to hurt the average citizen who is powerless to change the policies. As such, sanctions have failed all the way around.
Additionally, some gems from the video, fewer Russians travel abroad, Russians shop around for the best deals, and 58% of Russians budget for food. By this standard even with sanctions the average Russian lives better than the average American!! Almost all Americans budget for food and shop around for the best deals as they have no choice and almost no Americans travel abroad. As such, this further drives the point home about how sanctions have failed but the implication is that this will now turn "Ivan" the average Russian against us.
I've long suspected that foreign agents have infiltrated the US government at all levels. As such, at the time sanctions were first proposed, I stated the following. "This will not hurt the leadership and it will serve to drive the populace into the arms of Vladimir Putin, helping him consolidate his power, and fomenting anti-Americanism within Russia." This has all come to pass.
I think it highly likely that Russian agents in the US and "western" governments whispered into the ears of leaders of these countries to impose sanctions against Russia understanding what would happen. Such a move, in the end, really costs "western" nations nothing. After all should hostilities break out it's going to be America that is going to be dealing with the brunt of a Russian military operation.
It seems to me the video is trying to drive home the point that sanctions have failed. As such, the Russian leadership may have decided they have accomplished what they wish with the sanctions and now is time to end them. If I'm right, America should get out in front on this and push as hard as it can for the end to such sanctions. Perhaps this way some sort of positive relations with Russia can be formed. Either way it seems with or without US assistance the sanctions against Russia are about to end as they've accomplished there purpose.
