My personal feeling based on Canada's Federal system, that being a citizen within the system I feel that I have no control over my little part of the the world, decisions are made for me by people I have nothing in common with, politically or socially. If I lived in the UK I would vote to withdraw from the EU based on my Canadian Federal experience.
TWN,
While the US system is a bit different on paper at least than the Canadian system, my personal experience in the US is very similar to yours in Canada. Essentially decisions are made by people I have little to nothing in common with who don't represent my/our interests while the local and state governments except in the areas of tax collection largely just rubberstamp whatever those at the federal level come up with, albeit they do raise a meek protest from time to time but it seems this is simply to posture for the folks back home without any seriousness.
If I lived in the UK, I'd probably vote to withdraw as well. As for how this impacts the US, when BREXIT does happen, the new situation may or may not be favorable to the US. What does seem clear is the current situation with the Britain in the EU is not favorable to the US. As such, better to go with an unknown than to stick with a known that is bad UNLESS we can prove the unknown will likely be even worse than what we know and we have no power to influence the situation.
