Long War Journal: Taliban rejects peace talks, emphasizes alliance with al Qaeda in new video
The Taliban rejects “peace talks” with the West and advertises its continuing alliance with al Qaeda in a newly released video entitled, “Bond of Nation with the Mujahideen.”
The video was produced by Manba’ al-Jihad Media for Production, which has long been affiliated with the Haqqani Network and was folded into the Taliban’s media arm years ago. The production was disseminated on the Taliban’s websites and social media, including on accounts affiliated with the group’s spokesman.

WNU Editor: The Taliban are very blunt on what is their position on peace talks, their alliance with Al Qaeda, and the war. But listening to Washington .... for reasons that escape me .... they seem to be focused on something that simply does not exist .... The role of the U.S. in Afghan-Taliban peace talks (The Hill).

"Focused on sonething that simply does not exist." This my friend is part of the definition of "being blinded by ideology."
The opposite of ideology is "pragmatism" or "pragmatic." As a lifelong business person, Mr. Trump is a pragmatic man.
The advantages of pragmatic people is several fold. They tend to carefully consider all options in a circumspect manner. They don't make rash decisions. They tend to be calculating and deliberate. Instead of doubling down on failed policies they tend to learn from their mistakes and make corrections. Ideologues are the exact opposite.
With that said pragmatic people have significant disadvantages. Most importantly such people tend to have no values beyond that which leads to their advancement.
It is my considered opinion that a pragmatist is far better than an ideologue who has the wrong values. After having a POTUS since 1988 who was an ideologue who had the wrong values that have run the country into the ground. A pragmatist is a welcome change.
BIG changes are coming. Will they be for the better? This is not known right now. Prayers and support for the United States of America and it's people are very much appreciated.
