The Hill: China hits Trump's comments on naval drone: We don’t like the word ‘steal'
China on Monday rejected President-elect Donald Trump’s assertion that it had stolen an unmanned drone in the South China Sea last week.
“We don’t like the word ‘steal’ — the word is absolutely inaccurate,” said Hua Chunying, the spokeswoman for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Bloomberg.
“This is just like you found a thing on the street, and you have to take a look and investigate it to see if the thing belongs to one who wants it back,” she added.
Trump tweeted about the seizure several times over the weekend, calling it an “unprecedented act.”

WNU Editor: As I said in an earlier post .... China Returns U.S. Navy Drone .... This incident has not turned out well for the Chinese. They have lost face (especially after President-elect Trump called them thieves), and they want this issue gone ASAP.

If the Chinese want the whole thing over, then why do they keep talking about it?!!? Furthermore I don't see how they lost "face" here.
They look tough. The Us looks weak. DJT tells them to keep it. He knows ultimately there's nothing he or the US can do anyway. The Chinese could have kept it forever and told the US to go pound sand or whatever. This is why he tells China to keep it. Sort of like the kid who wanted something, didn't get what he wanted, and then sniffs "I didn't want that anyway." Everyone knows it is complete b.s. as they do here. China looks tough. The US looks weak.
Furthermore China got to reverse engineer the drone, get any secrets from it, very likely present it back in pieces to the US, and the US has lost any benefit from this drone, and very likely any benefit from future drones of this type as the Chinese now very likely know how to counter them.
Big win for China. Huge loss for the US. There's no other way to spin this. We need to renegotiate the current trade deal with China. We can't hurt China without hurting ourselves worse. As such, the sooner we can get this behind us the better. China has not lost anything. If they had and needed to save face, they'd quit talking about it!!
